I just believe in Jesus ... what next?

Congratulations! You just take your life-changing decision. Maybe now you ask, "What next? How do I start to walk with the Lord? "Five steps mentioned here will give you directions from the Bible. When your journey, you have questions, please visit http://www.gotquestions.org/Indonesia
1. Make sure that you understand about safety.
1 John 5:13 says, "I write these things unto you, that ye who believe in the name of the Son of God, know that ye have eternal life." God wants us to understand about safety. God wants us to have confidence that we have been saved. In summary, let us discuss the main things in safety.
(A) We all have sinned. We have been doing things that are displeasing to God (Romans 3:23)
(B) Because of our sin, we deserve to be punished in a way eternally separated from God (Romans 6:23).
(C) Jesus died for us on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins (Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus died in our place, taking the punishment that we carry. His resurrection proves that Jesus's death was enough to pay for our sins.
(D) God bestows forgiveness and salvation to all who believe in the Lord Jesus - to believe and accept His death as payment for our sins (John 3:16, Romans 5:1, Romans 8:1).
That news of salvation! If you believe in the Lord Jesus as Savior, you are saved. All your sins are forgiven and God promises will never leave you (Romans 8:38-39, Matthew 28:20). Remember, you are guaranteed salvation in Jesus Christ (John 10:28-29). If believing in the Lord Jesus as the only Savior, you can have the assurance that you will enjoy eternity with God in heaven!
2. Find a good church that teaches the Bible.
Do not view church simply as a building. The church is its people. It is very important for people who believe in the Lord Jesus to have fellowship with one another. That is one of the main goals of the church. Once you believe in Jesus Christ, we strongly encourage you to find a Bible-believing church in your neighborhood and talk with his pastor. Tell him about your faith in Jesus Christ.
A second goal of the church is to teach the Bible. You can learn how to apply God's guidance in your life. Understand the Bible is the key to successful Christian living and powerful. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God is useful for teaching, for stating the error, to correct behavior and for training in righteousness. Thus every human being belongs to God equipped for every good deed. "
The third objective of the church is worship. Worship is thanking God for what He has done. God has saved us. God loves us. God provide for us. God leads and directs us. How can we not thank Him? God is holy, righteous, loving, generous and full of grace. Revelation 4:11 states, "God and our God, Thou art worthy to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."
3. Set aside time each day to focus on God.
It is very important to spend time each day to focus on God. Some people call this time as a "quiet time." Others call it "devotion" because this is where we devoted the time or dedicate ourselves to the Lord. There are people who like to use the morning for this purpose, others prefer the night. Whatever name you use for this time, and whenever you do that, it would not be a problem. What is important is that you regularly spend time with God. What was done in our time with God?
(A) Prayer. Simply put, prayer is conversation with God. Talk to God about your problems and concerns. Ask God to give you wisdom and leadership. Ask God to provide for your needs. Tell God how much you love Him and how you appreciate all that He has done for you. That is prayer.
(B) The reading of the Bible. In addition to receiving the teaching of the Bible in church, Sunday School, and / or understanding of the Bible, you need to read the Bible in private. The Bible has everything you need to know in order to live successfully as a Christian. The Bible contains God's instructions about how to make wise decisions, how to know God's will, how to serve one another, and how to grow spiritually. The Bible is God's word (The Word of God) to us. Basically, the Bible is a book of instructions from God about how to live in ways that please God and satisfy us.
4. Develop relationships with people who can help you spiritually.
1 Corinthians 15:33 tells us, "Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good habits." The Bible is full of warnings about the influence of people who are "not good" about ourselves. Mingling with people who do sinful activities that can make us tempted. The properties of the people who hang out with us will be "contagious" to us. That's why it's important for us to get together with people who love God and who are committed to Him.
Try to get one or two friends, maybe from your church, who can help and give encouragement to you (Hebrews 3:13; 10:24). Ask your friend to be a place of your responsibility in the matter of quiet time, your activities and your relationship with God. Ask if they also want you to do the same thing to them. This does not mean you have to leave all my friends who do not believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior. Stay friends with them and love them. Tell them that Jesus has changed your life and you can no longer do the things you used to do. Ask God to give you the opportunity to share Jesus with your friends.
5. Baptized.
Many people misunderstand baptism. The word "baptize" means "put into the water." Baptism is the biblical way to publicly proclaim faith in Jesus and your commitment to follow Him. Entered into the water depicts buried together with Christ. Out of the water describes the resurrection of Christ. Baptized means identifying yourself with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:3-4).
Baptism does not save you. Baptism does not wash away your sins. Baptism is a step of obedience, a public statement of faith to Christ for your salvation. Baptism is important because it is a step of obedience - publicly stated faith and commitment to Christ. If you are ready to receive baptism, you need to speak with Pastor.
